L’autre jour, Benjamin et moi étions en semaine de repos. On se demandait ce qu’on pourrait faire le lendemain. On voulait absolument faire quelque chose qui changerait un peu de l’ordinaire.

The other day, Benjamin and I were both on a rest week. We wondered what we could do the next day. We absolutely wanted to do something that would change a bit from the ordinary.

On tournait en rond pour avoir une idée mais malheureusement on était d’humeur morose et rien ne nous tentait vraiment :

We were going round in circles looking for an idea but unfortunately we were feeling a bit moody and nothing really tempted us:

• Tu veux aller au ciné ?
• Si tu veux, mais ça ne change pas vraiment de d’habitude !
• Tu veux aller faire un bowling ?
• Pourquoi pas, mais à deux ça risque d’être très rapide !
• Tu veux faire un karting ?
• Oh non ! Je n’ai pas la tête à ça ! Je n’ai pas du tout envie de conduire !

• Do you wanna go to the movies?
• If you want, but it’s not much of a change!
• Do you want to go bowling?
• Why not, but with only two it’ll be over very fast!
• Do you want to go karting?
• Oh no ! I don’t feel like it! I do not want to drive at all!

Que c’est difficile de trouver quelque chose à faire quand nos étudiants de français en immersion ne sont pas là ! Nous sommes tellement habitués à la compagnie et à planifier les activités pour eux que quand nous sommes seuls, nous sommes perdus ! MDR !

It’s hard to find something to do when our French immersion students are not here! We are so used to the company and planning activities for them that when we are alone, we are lost! LOL!

Bref, nous avons échangé plein d’idées pour trouver quoi faire puis nous avons abandonné…

In short, we exchanged plenty of ideas to find what to do, then we gave up…

3 – Watching a Disney Movie

Nous avons donc décidé de regarder un film en attendant de se décider. Nous avons regardé Aladdin avec Will Smith qui joue vraiment bien le rôle du génie !

So we decided to watch a movie while waiting to decide. We watched Aladdin with Will Smith who plays the role of the genie really well!

Et après être retournés en enfance pendant 2H00 Benjamin a eu une idée de génie (justement: jeu de mot – ou presque !)

And after returning to our childhood for 2 hours Benjamin had a brilliant idea! (Actually in French we say “a genius’ idea” so it’s almost a pun with the movie).

• Pourquoi ne pas aller à Disneyland Paris ?
• Tu crois ? Un parc d’attraction vraiment ? On risque de s’ennuyer, c’est surtout pour les enfants !
• Mais si ! C’est parfait ! Ça nous changerait complètement, ça nous viderait la tête et surtout, on s’amusera comme des gamins !

• Why not go to Disneyland Paris?
• You think ? An amusement park really ? We risk being bored, it’s especially for children !
• I disagree ! It’s perfect ! It would be completely different for us, it would clear our heads and above all, we will have fun like kids!

C’était décidé !

It was decided!

Nous avons acheté nos billets en ligne et le lendemain matin, on était prêts à 8H00 pour prendre la route. Disneyland est à une heure trente de chez nous : ce n’est pas loin, mais ce n’est pas tout à côté non plus.

We bought our tickets online and the next morning we were ready at 8:00 to hit the road. Disneyland is one hour thirty minutes away from our house: it’s not far, but it’s not next door either.

4 – Our Day At Disneyland Paris

Nous avons commencé par déposer notre chien Okami chez les parents de Benjamin. Nous ne voulions pas qu’il passe toute une journée seul et enfermé.

We started by dropping off our dog Okami at Benjamin’s parents’ house. We did not want him to spend a whole day alone and locked up.

Et 1H30 plus tard, nous sommes arrivés à DISNEYLAND PARIS !! Aussi enthousiastes que des enfants la veille de noël !

And 1 hour and a half later, we arrived at DISNEYLAND PARIS !! As enthusiastic as children on Christmas Eve!

5 – Go To Disneyland Paris In The Fall Or Winter!

Et quelle belle surprise dès notre arrivée : comme nous étions à la saison basse, à la fin de l’automne, il n’y avait pas de bouchon pour accéder au parking !

And what a nice surprise even from our arrival: since it was the low season, at the end of fall, there was no traffic jam to access the parking!

Bon, il faut qu’on soit stratégiques. On commence par le parc Studio, il ferme plus tôt !

Let’s sort out a strategy. We start with the Studio Park, it closes earlier!

6 – Ratatouille in Disneyland Paris

Parce que j’adore le film Ratatouille (c’est sans doute mon esprit gourmand qui commande mes préférences cinématographiques haha !), nous avons commencé par cette attraction.

Because I love the movie Ratatouille (it’s probably me being greedy that drives my cinematographic preferences haha!), we started with this ride.

Dans cette attraction, vous montez sur le dos d’un rat, vous enfilez vos lunettes 3D et vous êtes propulsés dans une course-poursuite effrénée au cœur d’une gigantesque cuisine de restaurant. C’est vraiment très bien fait et très amusant !

In this ride, you climb on the back of a rat, you put on your 3D glasses and you are propelled in a frantic chase in the heart of a gigantic restaurant kitchen. It is really very well done and great fun!

Et le petit bonus : parce que nous y sommes allés hors saison, nous n’avons attendu que 4 minutes avant de commencer.

And the bonus: because we went off-season, we waited only 4 minutes before starting.

7 – The Tower of Terror in Disneyland Paris

• Je veux de l’adrénaline !
• Tu es sûre ? Tu vas crier comme une fillette !
• Oui !!!! Je veux avoir les pétoches !
• Ok ! C’est parti pour la Tour de la terreur !

• I want adrenaline!
• Are you sure ? You’re going to scream like a little girl!
• Yes !!!! I want to be scared stiff!
• Ok! Let’s go to the Tower of Terror!

Encore une fois, sans une grande file d’attente. Quel bonheur !

Dans cette attraction, vous vivez un des épisodes de la 4ème dimension. Après être entrés dans « l’hôtel », vous pénétrez dans les coulisses et prenez un ascenseur de service pour chuter quand vous êtes au plus haut !

In this attraction, you live one of the episodes of the 4th dimension. After entering the “hotel”, you go behind the scenes and take a service lift to fall when you are at the highest point!

Nous avons crié comme des petits fous dès la première descente ! C’était super !

We shouted like crazy as from the first run! It was great !

8 – Conclusion About Our Day at Disneyland Paris

Nous avons donc passé notre journée entre haute sensation, adrénaline, amusement et émerveillement. On ne peut rien y faire, quand on va dans ce type de parc d’attraction, on retourne automatiquement en enfance ! Nous y avons d’ailleurs croisé un très grand nombre de couples sans enfant venus faire la même chose que nous !

So we spent our day between high sensation, adrenaline, fun and wonder. You can’t help it, when you go to this type of amusement park, you automatically return to childhood! We also met a very large number of couples without children who came to do the same thing as us!

C’est vrai qu’au départ, je n’étais pas trop partante, les parcs d’attraction ne sont pas trop ma tasse de thé ! Mais finalement c’était super !

It is true that at the beginning, I was not too game for it, amusement parks are not really my cup of tea! But finally it was great!

En dehors des attractions à haute sensation qui ne peuvent pas plaire à tout le monde, ce parc est juste incroyable, rien que pour se balader. Les décors sont magnifiques ! Les boutiques vendent du rêve et vous pouvez manger dans plein de différents restaurants avec plein de spécialités différentes ! On en trouve vraiment pour tous les goûts !

Apart from the high-thrill rides that cannot please everyone, this park is simply amazing, just for a stroll. The settings are beautiful! The shops sell dreams and you can eat in many different restaurants with many different specialties! You really find something for everyone!

On a particulièrement aimé l’ambiance, en ce mois de novembre : les décorations de Noël sont déjà installées et ajoutées à tous les merveilleux décors de Disney, ça donne une atmosphère féérique!

We particularly liked the atmosphere, this November: the Christmas decorations are already up, and added to all the wonderful scenery of Disney, it gives a magical atmosphere!
