I just had to write to tell you that all of Camille’s audio books and online articles are the things that are preparing me the best for my one month stay in France. Her explanations of everything, from grammer to pronunciation, modern spoken french, and audio stories have enlightened me to a new understanding and to prep me as to what the real expectations for communicating in France will be like. I am signed up with two other online programs, and they are good, but not as useful as Camille’s information. I love the fact that you two are so willing to put so much information online for us, without ever trying to hard-sell your products. That is why I keep coming back to buy more. I know I can trust your products to do what is promised and I am happy to support your family endeavor.

    Merci mille fois!!!

I have been studying French in a small class for about 6 months and have started using the French Today audiobooks, study guides and other helpful tips to complement my studies. I am very impressed with the quality. A moi Paris Level 2 is a good level for me and I have also downloaded the subsequent levels, which I think are not too far out of my reach. The study guides are also very useful. While they are not intended to be a comprehensive grammar tool, they are handy to clarify how one might extrapolate in conversation using the language from the storyline.
This approach has helped my comprehension enormously and I am able to follow (and contribute to) spoken French much more fluently. Certainly an excellent tool to have found early in my language studies.
I am also very pleased with the efficient and effective service received when I encountered some technical difficulties. My queries where promptly addressed and I was able to get straight back to my studies!

I have just started using the level 2 book with my high school French students as a supplement to my regular course, and we are loving it! It is great to be able to change the recording speed to aide comprehension and my students enjoy speaking with the recording as we read the text projected on the screen in the classroom. With the English text under the French transcript, we are also able to compare and contrast how we would say something in English versus how the character said it in the story. The audio book is now a springboard for fun speaking and listening activities in the class. My students are able to role play the everyday situations from the book using the correct pronunciation and current expressions / vocabulary that they may encounter when traveling in France. I have been sharing Camille’s blog posts with my students for a few years now, and am very pleased with how receptive my students have been to using the audio book in class. Merci Camille!!

I have recently purchased A Moi Paris levels one and two, and I also have the Essential French Dialogues, and I’m really appreciating the ability to listen at different speeds and the way the dialogue builds naturally, as each situation grows more complex. The guide is very helpful too, as is the printed version of each dialogue, which I don’t use all the time, but is helpful occasionally just to check that I’m spelling new words correctly, or that I’m using the correct conjugation of a verb. Just being able to listen, and challenging myself to listen at normal and street level speeds helps me to gain confidence. The more I listen the more confident I feel. Thanks very much for these excellent learning tools. Merci beaucoup!!

When I retired I decided to move from London (UK) to France and enjoy the good life! I tried several language courses before discovering French Today through Facebook. I found found the initial free download fascinating as Camille explained all the english grammatical terms at the start, to be honest I doubt if I could have explained what a noun, adjective etc was as even my english was rubbish. The idea of having the printed word to follow along with the audio that one can stop, pause and start again works great with me. As I am at present concentrating on essay writing I use the printout to follow the way that the language is structured how it flows and for story ideas. I have purchased levels 1 & 2 of À Moi Paris and no doubt levels 3, 4, & 5 will follow. A great product. Whats more is that one gets heaps of extra material every week from your website.

I have been a student with the Alliance Francaise for one year now. I was looking for additional learning as an adjunct to their curriculum, and I believe I have found the best one yet! And believe me, I have tried a few! The À Moi Paris audiobook series level 2 was exactly what I needed: more conversation listening for understanding, but then also the practice with the vocabulary, especially the verbs. I LOVE that it can be downloaded onto my iPhone. But best of all, it can be “bookmarked” so I don’t lose my place and have to start over each time searching for where I ended last. The learning comes from making sense of the conversation, being able to analyze it in chunks with the Q&A section, and then studying more in depth via the Study Guide sections. It’s learning that makes sense! I also purchased the Secrets of French Conversation and have found it to be extremely helpful, especially sense it correlates exactly to what we’re learning at the Alliance Francaise in Year 2. I am a career interpreter and transliterator of multiple languages, so it is not easy to impress me, but I am impressed! Thank you for making such great learning tools!

I started learning French 2 years ago, using a textbook. While absorbing the grammar and learning quite a bit of vocabulary, I still found it difficult to follow spoken French. I then hired a French teacher. She was very good and I made definite progress, but she told me I needed to listen a lot more to spoken French. The trouble with this was that I found French TV/radio or films too hard to follow, and quickly became disheartened. I then looked around on the internet and found French Today. I bought A Moi Paris Level 2. I’ve downloaded it onto my MP3 player and listen while on country walks. This really fills the gap in my learning! I’ve been listening to the dialogues (excellent that they’re at three different speeds) and doing the Q&As for about a month now, and already feel far more confident in both listening to French and speaking. I also agree completely that ‘repetition is the key’! I’m very pleased with my progress and look forward to moving on to Levels 3 and 4. It is very professionally presented and I highly recommend it.

Great learning and practice guide. Having the different speaking speeds, plus the ‘street pronunciation’ is a valuable tool.
I also like that there is enough time allotted for the listener to respond. The same is true with the Verb Drill audiobook…time allowed for answering or repeating the information. See more of my comments under Verb Drills. I listen to this book using the French Today App… The App is free!

Camille’s clear pronunciation is wonderful! One of my biggest problems is understanding a native French speaker. That is why I decided to purchase the A Moi L1 and L2 – so that I can listen to the lessons at various speeds and “hear” the words. I have tried listening to other native French speakers, but I found it was not a productive way for me to improve because I was not able to process the words – because the speakers spoke too fast. Camille’s lessons are giving me the opportunity to process the words. (It was after I listened to a sample of the free audiobook, that I made the decision to purchase.)

    Merci beaucoup!

When I read about how different spoken French is to written French I knew that I needed to practice my listening and speaking. The audio books are extremely useful as they have different language speeds, slow and normal, so I am able to hear the words clearly allowing me to become used to the pronunciations. I reccommend to anyone whose weakness is in verbal communication. Great products!

I found Camille’s “A moi Paris” series the very best means available to actually learn to SPEAK French. I have tried the free courses that you can find online and the subscription courses that you may pay quite a lot of money for: but none come close to “A moi Paris”. If you read the rest of this review I can tell you why and save you a lot of time searching for the best course rather then learning.

There is a BIG difference between “knowing” a language and being able to speak it. And Camille first starts with the talking and speaking and then teases the grammar from the script. In other word she has successfully put the cart before the horse: putting the emphasis on speaking first, and grammar after.

I can best tell you why this course is so successful using an analogy.

I play classical piano. I have spent years learning music theory, studied the scales, looking at the sheet music of score I want to play. But although this helps me to UNDERSTAND the music I want to play, it does not help me to actually play the piece. What does help me is to ultimately play the music is the time I actually spend practising the piece. The memory of the piece of music has to be transferred to my fingers through repeating and repeating the piece.

This is basically Camille’s approach. You learn a language by speaking. Yes, understanding grammar is very important. But let us not forget that all children learn to speak their native language long before they know any grammar; and there are adults who speak their language very well without knowing any grammar at all.

Do not waste time searching for the best course. I have found it for you.

It’s simple–this method works. I keep listening to the chapters over and over again going from slow to street French until I am no longer translating in my head.

And the grammar workbook is as friendly as a grammar workbook is going to be

These audiobooks are very helpful. Great mix of story to keep your interest, study guide to target learning, and Q&A to test your comprehension. I uploaded the PDF to Kindle, so that I can highlight new terms and phrases as I listen, to make flashcards later. The audio is very helpful to train your ear and your pronunciation. I like the self-paced nature of these tools and find it an enjoyable way to learn.

I am thoroughly enjoying using A Moi Paris to learn French – speaking, hearing, reading. There is so much to learn from each chapter, the accompanying questions and answers, and the study guide. The audio lessons are excellently constructed and paced. I also so enjoy receiving the regular French Today emails with their useful tips and interesting cultural stories. It all feels very welcoming, friendly and inclusive and you sense that Camille really wants you to do well.

I have purchased the two first audio books of A moi Paris and they are just wonderful. I did learn French in the past but this is something totally different. I learn on my way to work (45 min each direction every working day) in the car. The explanations of grammar and pronunciation are fantastic and comprehensive. I will surely buy the next two audio books once I finish these ones.
    Thank you so much!

The lessons are good for the exposure to contemporary French and I appreciate the Street French speed. The lessons are perhaps a little too female-centric but I can live with that. One area that could use improvement are some parts of the lessons and study guides where the translations are generalized too much. For instance, the sentence ‘Les vacances durent une semaine’ is translated as ‘The vacation is a week long’, whereas I would prefer it said ‘The vacation lasts for a week’ or in other words is tied more closely to the real meaning giving more weight to the verb ‘durent’.
All in all though, an excellent purchase.

I loved doing French O level at school, but that was 30 years ago (how time flies), and now that my kids are learning French I want to catch up with them and feel confident to speak French when we visit France. I chose Level 2 and this has been the right level to re-introduce myself to the language.

The story is fun to listen to, and the exercises are clear and helpful. I have learnt some vocabulary already, and I have to remember to practice to keep those words at the tip of my tongue. I’ve really enjoyed this audiobook and I am looking forward to the next stage.

I was on the fence about whether or not to buy this. And if so, what level to get. It was clear that Camille and Olivier carefully read and considered what I wrote about my previous experiences and progress (or lack thereof) with French study. They responded quickly to my questions and provided very valuable guidance.

I am very pleased with the A Moi Paris – Level 2 recordings and workbook. They are really helping me in the specific areas I wanted help, i.e. understanding what I am hearing in French and formulating responses. And when I read along with the spoken story, I end up learning some lessons on pronunciation too.

I was totally unfamiliar with “glidings” before I started using this, but the combination of Street French recordings and workbook together have helped me hear and see things that I had totally missed before.

This has been a fun way to learn and I am glad I took the plunge. I will probably continue on with additional levels and products.

I do like these audio books. And I like the method that is used to teach French to us in both of the audio books that I’ve purchased, and of course the entire series.
More than that, I like that French Today is owned and operated by real people with really everyday lives that are shared with us. After I bought the French Today audio books A Moi a Paris, I fell like I became a part of an extend family and that I really really have friends that will help me and care about me and my interest in learning the French language. They share so much of their lives with us that we automatically become part of a French family. And the types of commentary that is shared is diverse and interesting, or may just be any old day to day topic, which I find interesting and isn’t that the basis of the everyday conversations in French that we all hope to master soon in the future? I like the program. i’ll continue, albeit slowly because I’m pretty busy sometimes and hope I to complete all the audio books in the near future. Once I build some proficiency, I might try being a Skype distance learner :)

Useful for learning french as you would hear it in casual conversation. Instead of just memorizing words, you get to understand and remember how to use them in context. This way of studying is far more effective than learning random sentences from grammar books, or from vocabularies lists.
I like how the program is in a downloadable format, I can use it wherever and whenever I want, without needing the Internet.

These audio books are fantastic. I have put them on to an SD card and plugged them into my car audio system. The ability to listen regularly to the same words and pronunciation is really helpful.

The other thing that I find useful is the speed, not too fast not too slow.

I have no hesitation in recommending these books, long may they continue producing them and hopefully many more.

I have tried many products related to learning French and after two years of study there is one piece of advice that I feel confident in giving. And that advice is to listen to as much spoken french as you can starting as early as you can. It’s even better if you have a transcript in french to help you pick up vocabulary you may miss as you listen. A Moi Paris is a great tool because it provides an interesting story that starts out with slow easy french and in each episode the level of speech and vocabulary grows. There are transcripts in french (and english) that you can read as you listen and that you can also use to practice speaking. I am very happy with this product and believe that it can really help others to quickly develop their comprehension and speaking skills.

For beginners or high-school-French survivors who want to get to first base in French, À Moi Paris Level 2 is as good of a resource as can be found, and it’s affordable, making it the best deal available by far.

It comprises a novel of short 17 chapters recorded in clear, slow French audio, and a 200 page pdf with each chapter’s full text in both French and English. The first chapter is a dialog between people who’ve just met on a train; this provides a way to start very simply. Each subsequent chapter builds on its previous, and includes a chapter guide (in both audio and pdf) that expands and explains the new stuff in each chapter e.g. a new verb or a verb used with a different meaning. The pdf has a few pages of Q&A in both languages for each chapter. Both audio quality and the document layout and editing are impeccable.

The Approach -– The material covers considerable grammatical territory (perhaps on par with a year of high-school French?), but with almost no explicit discussion of grammar. For example, you’ll hear and pick up how to use determiners, possessive pronouns, etc., without naming them as such – just like you did with your first language as a child. It’s mostly in present tense but never becomes awkward because of it. By the last chapter, there are more complicated sentences with object pronouns, some additional tenses, etc. Not worrying about such things as present participles and disjunctive pronouns saves time that can be used for learning to use them by habit rather than by rules.

The Process -– One thing that is quite different about this material is the variety of ways to work with it; this is unlike, for example, a course that you can only use on a PC. You can cycle between listening with an iPod (e.g while driving), reading paper (in a waiting room), immersive study at your PC, and recording and playing back the Q&A on smart phone. The Q&A would support a study group. You’ll choose the mix of media depending on your preferences and availability of time.

What’s Next — Another factor is that there are follow-on materials available in the same series, so that you can continue when you’re ready. Unlike high-school French I for which there is a French II designed to pickup where the first left off, many courses for independent-learners don’t have a next step, forcing you to choose between and expensive restart or bewildering intermediate course not designed to follow the one you started.

I don’t know why high schools and colleges keep to language textbooks with 400 pages of grammar rules rather than a method closer to À Moi Paris Level 2, but it seems me that this is a better way to get going.

It’s a wonderful product not only for beginners but also for those who would like to refresh their French. Following the stories is very entertaining. You forget that you’re learning a new language and without realizing it, you learn new vocabulary, along with grammar, without any effort, as it all becomes automatic. That’s how a new language should be learned: while having fun!
I highly recommend all of French Today’s products as I’m happy—and proud— to say that I am now able understand everything I read and HEAR ( thanks to Camille’s clear and melodic voice) , I’m able to write the grammar correctly (thanks to the PDF files of the text for all the dialogues in the stories! ) , and I’m even able carry a conversation with the proper pronunciation ( I still need to polish my accent a little) only 1 year after studying with “A Moi a Paris, First Encounter (which French Today let’s you download for FREE!!!), “A Moi a Paris Level 1” and “A Moi a Paris Level 2”.

    Thank you, Camille and Olivier!

It helps me make connections, it has also helped with my confidence when speaking with the correct pronunciation.

Having visited France in the past, my French was diabolical to say the least and I completely lacked the confidence to try and dreaded anyone approaching to engage in conversation.
Having studied and practised using three of Camille’s product’s I certainly feel more confident to start conversations on my upcoming visit to Bordeaux and the surrounding area.
My listening skills are improving daily, need to work on the accent !! and my reading of French has greatly improved over the past few months.

Congratulations Camille and Olivier on producing such a fabulous Library of learning.

I loved this series – it was tremendous in helping me understand what was being said in French. At the time I received this series, I was attending French beginner classes and was unable to understand anything said in French. The slow pace ( in the initial chapters) and the use of the present tense only was great. This, together with the Question and Answer section was really the only tool I used which allowed me to understand the spoken French.

I used this as the main text in a five week summer class were the students ranged from beginner to 3rd year. The students loved it. They loved the real-life situations and the usable vocabulary. Even the beginners were able to join in and use the vocabulary in role playing situation. The audio portion helped greatly in improving everyone’s pronunciation. I continue to work with the material to improve my own abilities.

A Moi Paris has been immensely helpful to me. Their method of teaching French is excellent and is really helping me in the area I struggle the most: listening to and understanding a conversation in French. I would say that A Moi Paris is geared for people with at least some knowledge of French….not really for a pure beginner with no experience. But again, I can’t say how impressed I am with this company. I have improved quite rapidly since starting this program.

I’ve been wanting to learn French for quite some time now. I started studying it back in 2011 and had little success. My accent was bad and I couldn’t express myself as well as I wanted to. It drove me up the wall since I really wanted to speak French well. After purchasing this audiobook, I can truly say that this book has made my dream of spreaking French finally possible. Finally I have some material that focuses on the real, everyday French language and not some outdated dry material that will only help your writing. Mille fois merci Camille! :)

I just have the free version.. but let me tell you, this is everything I have been missing from my french lessons!
I have been learning through a private tutor and this is the kind of stuff I’ve always wanted to learn. It is practical and that is what you need to learn first, before you learn to analyze poetry and more difficult text. At least, my opinion anyway. I really feel that Camille and Oliver know understand how to break down the language learning process in simple ways so that it is not overwhelming or difficult. Sometimes, as a language learner you get stuck in the process of unraveling that language on the best method of learning. I had felt like I had reached a plateau but thanks to these tools, I know I’ll get to where I want to be, no problem. I haven’t finished the whole book yet but each chapter something so practical and useful. And that it’s an mp3 lets you play it as many times as you want! This is a great tool for beginners to more advanced!

One learns how French people interact with each other in daily life plus the words and syntax they use to do so. The audio is outstanding; I find it to be invaluable as a learning tool.

FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS: No matter what ‘curriculum’ you use, A Moi Paris pulls together everything you need your students to MASTER at an incredible price. I don’t need anything else! My students agree with me! All the basic structures and expressions are there, with excellent audio, translation, Q&A, audio of the Q&A. I’m obsessed with finding the perfect tool and I think this is it. Camille thinks like a teacher and chooses the perfect structures, not muddying the water with extras. Uses all learning modalities. I will definitely “talk it up” at conferences.

For second year and beyond, A Moi Paris reviews and progresses the whole language without the drudgery of ‘reviewing’ at the beginning or end of the year. Students love to act out the play. For first year, second semester, it embeds the language they need to use and build upon. Perfect for final exams also. Beginning and intermediate classes, use it as for listening and reading; more advanced students master the elements and use them in a new context, or just master what you choose the first time around and the rest as you progress.

French Today is very prompt and responsive to their customers and all materials are of extremely high (perfect) quality. A very pro publisher.

I have been learning French again after a gap of nearly forty years and I was able to understand almost everything just listening to it. The story line is fun, amusing at times and full of everyday French spoken in the way that French people speak.

I think I must have bought nearly every learn French program on the market and been very disappointed! The French today programs are streets ahead of anything else I have tried. I bought A Moi Paris 1 & 2 plus French pronunciation. I found that by doing one chapter at a time plus pronunciation on the same day my French has moved on at an incredible pace. I tried lessons which are of course good, but French Today gives you the chance to learn French when and where you want. The other very important point is that if you have a problem, their customer support is second to none. I will be buying more of their products simply because I feel really comfortable and know that if I have a problem they will be there to help. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed! Mike Peberdy

I’ve been studying French for many years through high school, college, and online courses, but never could understand how to really get comfortable with carrying on a conversation in French. I discovered “A Moi Paris” a few years ago, and it has, hands down, been the best resource I’ve found for learning everyday French conversation! I put the audio files on my phone, and I listen to them in the car, in the evenings before bed, and pretty much any other chance I get throughout the day! The study guide is tattered and torn from so much use – I use it for my everyday studying, and it goes with me on airplane and road trips! Camille is right, repetition is the key – I still pick up on new things every time I use “A Moi Paris”. Now when I try to have a conversation in French, I am able to apply many of the phrases I’ve learned from it to the situation I’m in. It has absolutely helped me advance in my French studies, and be more natural with everyday French conversation. I just bought the second one – can’t wait to start using it! Thank you Camille and Olivier for creating such fantastic learning tools!

I’ve been using these recordings as compliment to my French classes at school for a few weeks now and I’ve found them to be great for listening practice and for grasping how the gliding and many contractions sound. Also, the pace of the recordings is slow enough that even as a beginner I can grasp the meanings without being totally overwhelmed by the speech speed.
