The Phrasebook is a wonderful supplement to all the other French Today courses, and consolidates most of the topics one will need when traveling. In addition, Camille gives the reader invaluable tips about each topic, such as what to expect and ask for when booking a hotel room, and survival tips for ordering in restaurants and understanding details such as reading menus and how meat is cooked.. I have been using French Today’s offerings for as long as I can remember (I really can’t remember: since Layla was a small girl 😊). They are incredibly well planned, beautifully executed, and offered with a style that is warm, personal, but professional.
I especially enjoy the newsletters on an ongoing basis. I have learned a lot about Brittany and its unique features. Thanks to Olivier, I have learned a few wonderful French cooking traditions: we have made his 3 day Beouf Bourguignon for the past three Christmas dinners and I still enjoy his and Layla’s crêpe explanations and demonstrations. I have written to Camille a few times over the years with questions and have always received a quick and personal reply.

All of Camille’s work is of top quality. Of course she can provide the grammar, and of course, at times, the formal French we were exposed to á l’etranger. Camille’s ‘mission’ however, is to give her french l’esprit de la rue. She reassures us that even French native speakers make mistakes. Just have a go! Yay!

About the free Phrasebook which Camille and family have so generously given out, it is perfect for me as I am teaching french to myself. I love the ability to use either the modern or enunciation feature. The speed of the modern is perfect and the enunciation is great for the words when I am unsure of their pronunciation and emphasis. I did complain one time to Camille about the quickness of the street french, and she kindly reminded me that we do similarly often enough with american english, so I started paying attention, and so we do, but maybe not quite as fast. Anyway, this download has everything and is very enjoyable to work with. I am not traveling, but even so, this Phrasebook is very fun indeed!! Thank you so very much for being so available to us!!
