I must admit that I’m only in the beginning of this new adventure of Thomas and Angela, but already I love it. The beauty of the French Today method is that you learn and retain spoken French by hearing it in context and answer questions about what you’ve read. In “Une Semaine à Paimpol”, Thomas and Angela return to France, but with their 7 year old daughter, Laura! As an adult with children who has traveled to France with my family, the story line has an immediate appeal and really draws my attention and interest. I enjoy the fact that the lessons come in a slower speed (which I use for pronunciation practice) and a street French speed, which I use and absorb by listening, listening, listening, and listening. Pursuing the course in this way has increased my listening comprehension of French radio, tv, and French speakers (in America and in France and Canada). The audio question section helps my brain to cough up my French more quickly and fluidly (I still have a ways to go!). While I’m sure this course works well on its own, I use it in addition to a French class I’ve been in for several years. It would be great if the Thomas and Angela and Laura series continues after “Une Semaine à Paimpol.”
