This review applies to the whole À Moi Paris course.
I have been brushing up my French during Lockdown and have tried a number of methods. Olivier and Camille, yours is really good and well structured. Four of us here in Leicestershire join together for French practice once a week, but our teacher speaks it with a very East Midlands accent, so that rubs off on the rest of us. It’s good to get the correct pronunciation from a native speaker and I especially appreciate understanding the differences between the enunciated and glided language. Camille, your language hints are like little gems. I can wholeheartedly recommend your course, and, hopefully, I will have sufficient confidence to speak better French when I am next in France, whenever that may be.

Fantastic series of audiobooks; with great thought put into structuring of the material so that it is accessible for the English speakers – brilliant!

My accent has improved no end. Thank you. I really appreciate the replay facility. I have driven to my aunt’s and back – about a 40 minutes journey and so could listen over and over again to the story chapter. Never boring and I understand more everytime.

I should have ordered this series a long time ago. The method that Camille uses makes it so easy to put oneself in true-to-life situations that I am encouraged to learn french in a most enjoyable way. With my Bluetooth and iPhone, the interesting dialogues are available when I take my long walks. More than anything else, as I hear Camille’s voice while imagining her lovely smile, and being convinced of her genuine desire for her students to learn french, I am greatly motivated to continue to study and learn this beautiful language. Thank you Camille, and Olivier for making it possible to listen to the series even without Internet access.

Camille, j’aime beaucoup votre conseil pratique. J’apprécie bien votre concentration sur le français conversational. Surtout, j’adore toutes de vos leçons, qui sont toujours avisées et intelligentes. Au fait, j’avais imprimé parfois vos blogs en français/anglais – très intéressants, amusants et informatifs – pour référence plus facile au main.

I realized a short time ago that proper, written French is much different from street French when a friend of mine said, “J’ai pas compris.” (Je n’ai pas compris.) I was most interested in the modern French portion of your lessons which has proven to be very useful in helping me understand what I hear spoken by native speakers.

I have tried to learn some French in so many ways: some free some very expensive. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the worst and most expensive were one-on-one courses with ex-school teachers giving private lessons. I felt I was being groomed (usually in English) to pass a written (French) exam – lots of grammar to show me how much the expert teachers knew about his/her subject but little French conversation. The French Today language course is the opposite – it encourages you to firstly open your ears and listen and ‘get’ the meaning; then to open your mouth and speak. Listen – speak – question – repeat. Listen – speak – question – repeat. It works. Initially, I did tend to miss out on the ‘speak’ bit believing that ”thinking” the words in my head would suffice but it doesn’t. One cannot learn to play the piano by just looking at the notes and the keys – you have to establish some automatic connections between your brain and your finger muscles. Similarly, to speak strange words, you have to connect your brain to your mouth and tongue muscles. Eventually, the words and phrases become automatic. Yes, there are sections on grammar and vocabulary but it is only what is needed as you progress. It is a very natural way to learn French and I’m now moving onto the Intermediate levels.

I have loads of french language books but where french today is different is that you get to hear the language spoken and can practice speaking it. I found it very easy to learn. I also purchased the verb drills and listen to them while walking the dog, it’s an excellent way to learn.

Making my way through the audiobook series, and piecing together all the things that were never properly explained to me until now. I appreciate the spacious look of the series which helps concepts become clearer. It’s going to take a while before I have real confidence in my French, but I’m happy to make steady progress. Hoping to sit a TEF exam and pass in 9 months!
