This is an excellent and essential resource. The text combined with the audio and grammar provide a playful, entertaining and up to date method to learn French. Love the option to hear the audio at different speeds. I also really enjoy the free content on Facebook and Instagram by Camille and Olivier.
It is wonderful how personal this product is. It is effortlessly relatable and it quickly pulls you into everyday French life.
Thank you!

Due to COVID 19, I have been searching for better ways to introduce material to my students. It’s a little late for me to use the idea for this year, but I plan to implement it whenever we do continue. This will also give me time to finish the series. You see, while it was on sale, I decided to go ahead and purchase all of the audiobooks at once. As for the Level 1, I can say that it gives beginners what they need as they need it. It follows a solid level 1 quarter 1-2 curriculum.
As a teacher, I would only need to add vocabulary games, quizzes and tests. I have very seriously considered using the grammer points for each lesson (usually about 5), as “stations” around the room. The students could work their way around the stations in groups (with puzzles/manipulatives) then settle in the the story. After listening, they could read it aloud with a partner and answer the questions together. I would go around asking them the basic questions. Next they would need to take the new material and put it in an original conversation. No translation program allowed or necessary. They would need to record their conversations on Flipgrid. Reading, writing, listening and speaking would all be included in each daily lesson.

The audio books are very well prepared and use modern French not like what I used to learn on most French courses.

“French Today” by Camille, Oliver & Leyla (a French family) is an extremely helpful method of learning the French language, with clear explanations in various audiobooks for different levels of understanding . This would be the very best way to learn to speak French, with an emphasis on learning the language as it is spoken by French people. Camille has an excellent knowledge of both French and English grammar as well, and I would highly recommend these audiobooks.

This is a MUST HAVE. To learn a language you must:
1. Learn and RECOGNIZE the vocabulary in order to be able to READ foreign material.
2.Learn and RECALL the vocabulary and the grammar to formulate the idea you want to communicate in a sentence so you can SPEAK in that language.
These things you can do at home with books and lots of time and practice.
3. Listen, hear, RECOGNIZE and UNDERSTAND the vocabulary and grammar WHEN YOU ARE BEING SPOKEN TO IN CONVERSATION. This is the part that gets the least amount of time in any classroom at any level and it is the hardest to learn. You need to practice LISTENING and UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS BEING SAID and even conversation with other people is not as good as listening to an audiotape that you can back up and listen to over and over until what is being said finally sinks in!! It’s repetitive practice at listening.
And THIS audio series is superb with its three speeds and clear explanations. I bought ALL levels. It gets a SIX STAR rating.

We are very happy with this audiobook! My husband and I have zero experience with French but wanted to make good use of the “quarantine time” so we decided to start learning. After hours of research, French Today appeared to be the best method, so we took the plunge. We are so pleased! It is challenging but completely doable for those with no prior knowledge of French.
I will also note that I reached out via email with a few questions and Camille personally responded within a few hours and gave detailed answers to my questions. The newsletters are also wonderful! We are falling in love with the language and are so grateful for this unique opportunity. Thank you so much, Camille and Olivier!

Such a wonderful way to take the verb drills and textbook work I have been doing and put it all into context. This series is well crafted to include normal social situations and common interactions. It really helped get me over the level 1 / level 2 learning plateau I had been stuck at.
