I love the sense of rhythm in the language and trying to imitate the patterns while learning to express the meaning gives hope that I do not have to memorize phrasing, I just have to feel the gliding and sliding, the music of French expression in context that is content and emotion. Each book in the series represents a progression from the last and no. 6 has some challenging vocab and grammar but remains accessible. The one limitation is that it is all in one voice. Just another review I would like to add. I just moved to Bordeaux from the US 6 weeks ago. I had a basic French language background, and had also purchased A Moi Paris 5 and all the Verb Drills. I started an intensive French Language class at a school which I am sure you are familiar with, and it was awful. I actually came home and studied French Today, to get the understanding of the lessons for the next day. One day I stayed home from school and studied French Today all day to prepare for the exam the next day.
Your method is so clear, so precise and easy to understand, and it just makes SENSE. I stopped going to the school, lost my money of course, but I thought if I had just spent the time studying French Today, that I spent at that class, I would be so much farther ahead. So, now I spend time every day going over your material, and am so much better off for it. Your explanation of the Imparfait and Passe Compose, and when to use each was perfect. I wanted to tell my teacher to quit confusing everybody and just use the example of Foreground and “selfie” for Passe Compose, and the “back ground” or painting a picture and setting the scene, for the Imparfait.
Let there be no mistake, I have a ton of French books and tried many different methods, but French Today is by far the most effective and easy to comprehend. Learning a language is difficult, but I just keep telling myself “repetition is the key!”

It’s hard to pick out one single article to praise as everything Camille and Oliver do are outstanding. And let’s not forget Leyla, another Camille in the making and cute as a button. I live in the US where one rarely hears French. It’s an uphill battle not to lose the language I love so much. Thus, I do my French Verb Drills; I follow Camille on Facebook, Twitter and of course, I read and study with the Audiobook Series. Daily. Even if just for 20 minutes.This year I’m also spending a week with a French teacher in France. Total immersion!
I highly recommend French Today to anyone wanting to study French. Whether you are a beginner, and I know it’s tough. We Anglophones look for all the helper words that simply don’t exist in French. but once you’ve accepted that fact and get down to conjugating and using the French verbs, you are on your way.

Another great product from Camille and Olivier. I own just about every audiobook they sell, and I love them all. As a French teacher who left the classroom to be home with my own kids (and then a home schooling mother), I am always looking for ways to maintain my French.
