I am very happy with the method used here. Being able to choose whether to follow the transcript or not is very helpful. The ‘story’ is interesting and current – not outdated as my school French was. All the extra vocabulary and grammar we get along with the basics needed for the story are fantastic. If only I had found this course years ago!!! It is by far the best I have seen in over 20 years of studying French. Just finished Level 1 and can’t say enough about the course and the new mobile app. Really fun ‘game’ to try to understand SLOW audio version when starting a new lesson. By the end (lesson 20), I would get 90 % of the dialog ‘exactement’. Still some homonyms that can trick me: c’est vs. sais, etc. The three speeds of audio, using increasing levels of gliding, is brilliant and very instructive, and the grammar/usage section following each lesson is a nice ‘bite-sized’ amount to learn about a related topic. By the end, and in total, they provide a very comprehensive understanding of the construction of the dialog, so you are not just memorizing by rote. (I am copying my review of the mobile app, as it an essential component of the whole package)

This app is a must have for French Today Audio Books. It transforms your learning experience into playtime. No more fumbling with navigating PDF readers, audio players, and explorer to change speed and chapters. Very clean user interface that does everything you can think of, including the magical 15-second forward and back, sync PDF to audio button, and simple speed selection. This is truly the ‘free razor’ and should sell Audio Books like hot cakes (les gateaux chauds).

The French Today product range is very clear and easy to understand and follow.
There are three recorded variations for each chapter of the story part (Slow, Normal and Street French) which really helps with perfecting your pronunciation and understanding different types of spoken French.

I just had to write to tell you that all of Camille’s audio books and online articles are the things that are preparing me the best for my one month stay in France. I have been studying French in a small class for about 6 months and have started using the French Today audiobooks, study guides and other helpful tips to complement my studies. I am very impressed with the quality. A moi Paris Level 2 is a good level for me and I have also downloaded the subsequent levels, which I think are not too far out of my reach. The study guides are also very useful. While they are not intended to be a comprehensive grammar tool, they are handy to clarify how one might extrapolate in conversation using the language from the storyline.
This approach has helped my comprehension enormously and I am able to follow (and contribute to) spoken French much more fluently. Certainly an excellent tool to have found early in my language studies.
I am also very pleased with the efficient and effective service received when I encountered some technical difficulties. My queries where promptly addressed and I was able to get straight back to my studies!

I’ve studied Rosetta Stone thru level 2 and find the A Moi Paris Level 1 to be an enjoyable, informative listen. I especially appreciate the ability to listen at a very slow pace for a first time through and then faster paced and then the “street French” pronunciation after I am familiar with the story. This audiobook has noticeably increased my comprehension of spoken French with relatively little effort on my part. I like to listen while in the car or anytime while waiting. Very convenient.

I have just started using the level 2 book with my high school French students as a supplement to my regular course, and we are loving it! It is great to be able to change the recording speed to aide comprehension and my students enjoy speaking with the recording as we read the text projected on the screen in the classroom. With the English text under the French transcript, we are also able to compare and contrast how we would say something in English versus how the character said it in the story.The audio book is now a springboard for fun speaking and listening activities in the class. My students are able to role play the everyday situations from the book using the correct pronunciation and current expressions / vocabulary that they may encounter when traveling in France. I have been sharing Camille’s blog posts with my students for a few years now, and am very pleased with how receptive my students have been to using the audio book in class. Merci Camille!!
