I spent a wonderful week with Chantal and her family 22-28th June 2025.
From the very beginning, I felt welcome. Chantal goes above and beyond to
ensure that the immersion experience is both enjoyable and transformative.
It was lovely to meet Lilianne, Chantal’s mum, and hear all her stories, a real
privilege. The animals are very much part of the family with Grignotte and
Loulou the dogs, and Choupette, the cat, all contributing to the overall experience which I adored.
The studio accommodation is homely with all the facilities available to ensure
a comfortable stay. It is close to the pool, which was well used in the 35 degrees weather that week. The food was superb. Nourishing and wholesome.
I have been missing it since my return back home.
We spent an afternoon at the Chateau of Chantilly, which is quite remarkable
for its collection of beautiful books and manuscripts, and a trip to the town
of Senlis for market day. I was introduced to some of Chantal’s friends who
were so welcoming. It was truly a wonderful experience.
I was also invited along to the opening night of the newly refurbished Théâtre
de Mouy to see a play. A real bonus as it was my first experience of French
theatre.
Everyday we walked with the dogs for an hour or so, which also opened up
the opportunity to discuss many diverse topics, and in the process learn new
vocabulary. Never underestimate the power of walking the dogs in nature, to
transform body, soul and l’imparfait :)
I had a few “Aha” moments during my stay, as the grammar began to make
sense. Chantal has the ability to clarify the rules of the language so that it actually comes together throwing a light on the areas that have been sticking
points in the past.
If you are willing to work hard, and use the immersion experience to maximise your understanding of the French language, with all its subtle nuances,
you will benefit tremendously.
There is no magic wand, but there is a very special person who will nurture and guide you along the way.
Thank you Chantal
