A Truly Exceptional Immersive French Experience with Georgiana and Her Family
My Background and Motivation
Hello everyone! Yes — I would give Georgiana and her family 5 stars without hesitation!
Originally from eastern Canada, I studied French in high school — but that was over 60 years ago. Since retiring, one of my strongest interests has been the French language. Although I’ve been living in Australia and New Zealand for more than 45 years, there is a growing interest in French language and culture here, and I am among those passionate learners. I’m not completely fluent, but I truly love the learning journey.
A Deepening Passion for French Culture
For the past three years, I’ve been returning to France — especially Paris — simply for the joy, beauty, and deepening fascination with all things French. I’ve had immersive experiences in other countries, and even in France, but never within a family before.
Immersion can be challenging, but it is also deeply rewarding and essential for integrating into a culture and truly mastering a language.
Discovering Georgiana’s Immersion Program
I discovered Georgiana’s immersive family experience online. It was described as unique, welcoming, intensive, yet homely, and that immediately caught my attention.
From the very first message, Georgiana’s communication was warm, clear, and consistent with what I later experienced. Any questions I had over the following months were answered promptly, succinctly, and with genuine care.
Living Language in a Family Setting
One of my wishes was to live with a family that included both adults and children — as a grandmother myself, I know that children’s language tends to be simpler, more direct, and offers a fresh perspective. This adds another dimension to language learning.
The opportunity to share in the daily life of a French family, entirely in French, was a uniquely powerful and enriching gift.
Meet Georgiana and Her Wonderful Family
Georgiana, alongside her friendly partner Michael, is the mother of Amelia and Roban (and two older stepchildren, who even came home from university to meet me — a true family affair!).
She speaks several languages, is a trained herbalist and naturopath, and studied language teaching at the Sorbonne.
Structured Lessons and Personalized Learning
Our mornings were dedicated to structured lessons, tailored to my level and interests. A short placement test at the beginning helped Georgiana identify key areas of focus. I also had about 45 minutes to one hour of homework each evening, which greatly reinforced what I was learning.
Afternoon Cultural Experiences
Each afternoon, we embarked on cultural outings chosen from an extensive list provided online. These included visits to a fresh local market, a guided tour of the Château de Breteuil, a relaxing facial massage from Georgiana, a scenic riverside walk across charming bridges, and a trip to an organic farm — reflecting the family’s commitment to organic living.
Each activity offered new vocabulary, cultural insights, and authentic language use in real-life contexts.
Final Thoughts – A Life-Changing Experience
There’s so much more I could write, but I hope this gives you a sense of the depth and richness of the experience. I am profoundly glad I took this step.
This immersive stay opens the door to deeper language skills and cultural understanding in the most welcoming way — living daily life with a French family who enjoys having you there just as much as you enjoy being with them.
