Fun For All French Tales

Easier to understand – better to memorize

Understanding longer audio recordings in French can be quite a challenge. Because you already know the story of most of these fairy tales, the French version will be easier to understand, and you will memorize the vocabulary much faster.

Reachable for all levels of French learners

I will first tell my own version of the tale, like I tell it to my daughter. This version uses a lot of dialogues, and is very lively, sometimes a bit goofy, lots of fun. It is also a great tool to introduce your own children to French rhythm and pronunciation.

A winning challenge

I will also read - whenever available - the original version, from the 18th century. This is much more difficult, but my version will have prepared you to a lot of the vocabulary, and works as a bridge to help you conquer the original version.

A time proven method

Fairy tales have been used for generations to improve one's mastery of the language: they are full of everyday as well as intricate vocabulary, use all the verb tenses, linking words.... It’s a time proven method that works wonders on French children... and adult learners wanting to improve their French!

"As an adult learner, I am always looking for materials that will challenge me and yet entertain me at the same time. These classic tales do both"

Mlle Teresa from iTunes

"The audio for your recordings is phenomenal: a stellar example of how educational audio should be delivered"

Jason Mills, San Jose, USA.

"The stories are familiar and not too complicated (especially in Camille's home style version), so you can follow along even if your French isn't great."

M. Reinhard

Note

My original version of the tale comes with a French transcript with gorgeous illustrations, and an English translation. The 18th century Charles Perrault’s tales are in the public domain, you can easily find them on the internet. I am reading the Charles Perrault’s version off a $10 book “The Fairy Tales in Verse and Prose” by Stanley Appelbaum, available on Amazon.com, which has both the French text and an English translation.
