I do like these audio books. And I like the method that is used to teach French to us in both of the audio books that I’ve purchased, and of course the entire series.
More than that, I like that French Today is owned and operated by real people with really everyday lives that are shared with us. After I bought the French Today audio books A Moi a Paris, I fell like I became a part of an extend family and that I really really have friends that will help me and care about me and my interest in learning the French language. They share so much of their lives with us that we automatically become part of a French family. And the types of commentary that is shared is diverse and interesting, or may just be any old day to day topic, which I find interesting and isn’t that the basis of the everyday conversations in French that we all hope to master soon in the future? I like the program. i’ll continue, albeit slowly because I’m pretty busy sometimes and hope I to complete all the audio books in the near future. Once I build some proficiency, I might try being a Skype distance learner :)

I’ve been using Camille’s language products for a year and I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are an excellent series of language learning products.

Useful for learning french as you would hear it in casual conversation. Instead of just memorizing words, you get to understand and remember how to use them in context. This way of studying is far more effective than learning random sentences from grammar books, or from vocabularies lists.
I like how the program is in a downloadable format, I can use it wherever and whenever I want, without needing the Internet.

Very easy to get acquainted with the language after many years away. User friendly and practical. Combined with oral Lessons I was quite comfortable speaking in French within a short while and my preparation using these materials www a godsend when we arrived in Paris. Merci!

I find this helpful and fun but I must say, I have been waiting for months to hear back regarding beginner Skype sessions. The wait list must be much longer than I expected.

With French Today i have achieved more fluency than my completion of some popular French language audio courses, that in my opinion turn you into a phrase book. If you want to ‘feel’ the language and achieve the feeling of progression start with this course and download the accompanying booklet for reference.

These audio books are fantastic. I have put them on to an SD card and plugged them into my car audio system. The ability to listen regularly to the same words and pronunciation is really helpful.

The other thing that I find useful is the speed, not too fast not too slow.

I have no hesitation in recommending these books, long may they continue producing them and hopefully many more.

I have tried many products related to learning French and after two years of study there is one piece of advice that I feel confident in giving. And that advice is to listen to as much spoken french as you can starting as early as you can. It’s even better if you have a transcript in french to help you pick up vocabulary you may miss as you listen. A Moi Paris is a great tool because it provides an interesting story that starts out with slow easy french and in each episode the level of speech and vocabulary grows. There are transcripts in french (and english) that you can read as you listen and that you can also use to practice speaking. I am very happy with this product and believe that it can really help others to quickly develop their comprehension and speaking skills.

Like many mid aged people my French conversation was received with raised eyebrows and disdain by french friends…”NO BODY speaks like that ! ” . Now that my own children are learning French we have all gone back to the start using Camille’s audio learning system and we are all making great progress ! Camille ‘ s method of audio based learning supported by written transcripts and extensive study guides is intensive and extremely rewarding to use. She insists training to a fast automatic response with a good accent and it works !

The chapters of the A Moi Paris audio novels 1-4 are intense learning opportunities that manage and progress you deterrminedly through the process of learning the french language. You always feel stretched yet you never feel lost. If you know how to conjugate verbs in the plus-que-parfait yet your head doesn’t t shout [yona!] when you read ” il y en a ” then you are probably in no mans land as far as using the French language. I highly recommend that you start back at the start with Camille’s learning system. You will be amazed at the fluency that you will achieve and at how quickly you can achieve it. Bridget R

For beginners or high-school-French survivors who want to get to first base in French, À Moi Paris Level 2 is as good of a resource as can be found, and it’s affordable, making it the best deal available by far.

It comprises a novel of short 17 chapters recorded in clear, slow French audio, and a 200 page pdf with each chapter’s full text in both French and English. The first chapter is a dialog between people who’ve just met on a train; this provides a way to start very simply. Each subsequent chapter builds on its previous, and includes a chapter guide (in both audio and pdf) that expands and explains the new stuff in each chapter e.g. a new verb or a verb used with a different meaning. The pdf has a few pages of Q&A in both languages for each chapter. Both audio quality and the document layout and editing are impeccable.

The Approach -– The material covers considerable grammatical territory (perhaps on par with a year of high-school French?), but with almost no explicit discussion of grammar. For example, you’ll hear and pick up how to use determiners, possessive pronouns, etc., without naming them as such – just like you did with your first language as a child. It’s mostly in present tense but never becomes awkward because of it. By the last chapter, there are more complicated sentences with object pronouns, some additional tenses, etc. Not worrying about such things as present participles and disjunctive pronouns saves time that can be used for learning to use them by habit rather than by rules.

The Process -– One thing that is quite different about this material is the variety of ways to work with it; this is unlike, for example, a course that you can only use on a PC. You can cycle between listening with an iPod (e.g while driving), reading paper (in a waiting room), immersive study at your PC, and recording and playing back the Q&A on smart phone. The Q&A would support a study group. You’ll choose the mix of media depending on your preferences and availability of time.

What’s Next — Another factor is that there are follow-on materials available in the same series, so that you can continue when you’re ready. Unlike high-school French I for which there is a French II designed to pickup where the first left off, many courses for independent-learners don’t have a next step, forcing you to choose between and expensive restart or bewildering intermediate course not designed to follow the one you started.

I don’t know why high schools and colleges keep to language textbooks with 400 pages of grammar rules rather than a method closer to À Moi Paris Level 2, but it seems me that this is a better way to get going.

It’s a wonderful product not only for beginners but also for those who would like to refresh their French. Following the stories is very entertaining. You forget that you’re learning a new language and without realizing it, you learn new vocabulary, along with grammar, without any effort, as it all becomes automatic. That’s how a new language should be learned: while having fun!
I highly recommend all of French Today’s products as I’m happy—and proud— to say that I am now able understand everything I read and HEAR ( thanks to Camille’s clear and melodic voice) , I’m able to write the grammar correctly (thanks to the PDF files of the text for all the dialogues in the stories! ) , and I’m even able carry a conversation with the proper pronunciation ( I still need to polish my accent a little) only 1 year after studying with “A Moi a Paris, First Encounter (which French Today let’s you download for FREE!!!), “A Moi a Paris Level 1” and “A Moi a Paris Level 2”.

    Thank you, Camille and Olivier!
