Learn French in France – Your Immersion Homestay Program Near Amiens
Your Teacher And Hosts
Bonjour et bienvenue chez nous !
My name is Eliane, and I live in a typical small French town located only one hour away from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.
Since I was born to a French mother and a Dutch father, French is my mother tongue, but I’m also fluent in Dutch and English. Before I became an immersion teacher, I worked in a law firm, so I’m familiar with that world as well.
I love interacting with people and talk about French culture and history too, since my region “La Somme” is so famous for its key role during WW1 and WW2.
I often take my students to visit the war museum and the battlefields – now covered with peaceful grass, but still, a very touching site. I also love to paint and cook.
I live with my companion Benjamin: we have a cozy house in Roye, a picturesque and lively small town next to Amiens with plenty of shops, restaurants, an a huge and lovely park where I’ll take you for walks.
Let’s not forget our dog: Okami – meaning “loup” in Japanese (since he’s an akita, we gave him a Japanese name). He is super friendly and really sweet: my students love him and he’s always ready to help them practice there French.
Come visit us and experience a true immersion in French language and culture. We are casual people, live in a cozy house and love having guests over: our motto is: « faites comme chez vous ! » (Our home is your home).
“Éliane has a gift for teaching French… patience, positivity and a sense of humor made it a wonderful experience.”
Welcome to Our Home in The Somme Region, France
Our house is in the center of the small city of Roye: there are plenty of lovely restaurants, a movie theater, and charming shops. Everything is conveniently located within a walking distance and there is also a gorgeous park where we often go for a walk or a jogging – you may even fish there!
We live in a typical “Amiens” style brick townhouse, which has been entirely renovated. It’s warm and cozy, very comfortable and carefully decorated.
We also enjoy a large private garden in which is located the student’s bungalow. There are actually 2 gardens: a smaller one separating our house from the student’s bungalow with a nice outside sofa area: very comfortable to read with a coffee or a glass of wine, and the backyard with a dinning table and another sitting area.
Your Private Bungalow in Our Garden
Your private bungalow is sunny and really comfortable and opens up to our back yard through a large sliding door. You’ll enjoy a large bedroom with a king size bed, a comfortable sitting area, a table with two chairs, a small kitchen and a bathroom with a standing shower, a sink and a toilet.
The kitchen area is small but functional – anyway, I do most of the cooking in the big house! But it’s nice for students to have a small kitchen for snacks and coffee.
Two Guest Bedrooms in My House
If you prefer, or if you came with a large family or friends, there is also a lot of space in our house.
We have two guest bedrooms with double beds and a large bathroom with a double sink and a large shower, and separated toilet, a dinning room, living room and of course our fully equipped kitchen.
Learn French in The Somme Region in France
Roye is a charming little town next to Amiens and the Imperial city of Compiègne, halfway between Lille and Paris, in the Somme region of France.
“La Somme” is a Department rich in many ways, especially for its WW1 history, castles, gorgeous and authentic villages, prehistoric archeology, Gothic architecture, and to the North, natural parks, and beaches…
We can visit Amiens, a beautiful city with, among other things, its impressive Cathedral, the medieval district Saint-Leu where there are good restaurants, bars and antique shops, and the unique floating gardens of Hortillonages.
If you are interested in history, I’ll take you to the heart of the Somme battlefields (now covered in grass) and visit Albert, a beautiful city where the museum « Somme 1916 » is located: you’ll discover the lives of soldiers during WW1.
For longer outings, we could drive to Paris, or Reims, or to the “Baie de Somme” region with its pristine landscape and beaches. Let me know what interests you: there is plenty to do around here.
Practical Info About Your French Immersion Homestay
Getting To Our House
Roye is only at one our drive from Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport, and I can arrange to have you pick up if needed. If you take the train, I recommend TGV Haute Picardie, Noyon, Compiegne or Amiens. All these train stations are close to Roye and I will be at the station waiting for you.
Since our house is located in a city, you don’t need to rent a car although we recommend you do if you wish to be more independent and enjoy all there is to do in this beautiful region of France. Many public transportation options are also available.
Should you not rent a car, I’ll be happy to drive you around, but I will have to ask for a 75 Euros gas fee (a full tank), maybe more should we decide on doing several longer excursions. Pick up at Charles-de-Gaulle airport can also be arranged.
There is good Wifi and cell reception throughout the house.
Benjamin and I occasionally smoke electronic cigarettes, and smoking e-cigarettes is possible inside the house. You are welcome to smoke regular cigarettes outside should you wish to, but please don’t smoke in the student bungalow.
I love to cook and I cook all sorts of food: typical French cuisine of course, but also gourmet ethnic food. I enjoy picking up fresh produce at the farm in season. With your guidance, I will also be happy to adapt my cooking to your specific diet: I’m always eager to learn new recipes.
Because we have a dog, unfortunately, we cannot accept your pet.
A One week (7 Days, 6 Nights) residential french course includes but is not limited to:
- Fifteen (15) hours tuition – usually 3h in the morning x 5 days

Roye is considered as a gastronomic city because there are many restaurants, and you are welcome to use our fridge and kitchen too for your dinner.
- Two outings a week of cultural/touristic tours, or activities (like painting, cooking, shopping, cinema… anything according to your preferences) during which you’ll practice your French with me
- Preferred arrival on Sunday, departure on Saturday
Please note that entries to museums are not included.
The fee for one person for one week is 1300 Euros.
You could come alone or we could host up to 6 family members/friends, staying in our house and/or in the student’s bungalow. We have a total of three double beds available for guests.
For one additional guest, the price per week is:
- Euros 210 in half board, without lessons or excursions.
- Euros 700 in half board with shared lessons and excursions.
My program is really flexible: I can offer more or less lessons, go for longer excursions, cook three meals a day… Contact me, and we’ll put together a program to best fit your French goals, interests and make the most of your immersion stay with us!

What an amazing and positive experience.

I have managed to learn so much in a week with Éliane. I have always wanted to do a French immersion course but being a beginner and a very nervous person I was terrified. Éliane was already waiting for me with her lovely smile when I arrived at the station. This was so reassuring. Her partner… Read more
