My name is Anne-Elisabeth, and I have been welcoming international guests to France for many years as a host family, and since 2018 as a language coach. Through these experiences, I developed a deep interest in language learning and cultural exchange.
French Language Coach: A Unique Concept
An Observation
Over the years, while hosting international students who were studying French at language school in Montpellier, I noticed the frustration some students experienced when I occasionally couldn’t understand them.
A Desire
I wanted my students to feel completely satisfied with both their homestay experience and their language program in France. But how could I make that happen?
A Solution
In order to create a more meaningful experience and effective learning environment,I decided to become a French language coach and I graduated from the Alliance Française with a certification in teaching French as a foreign language.Since then, I have gained several years of experience teaching French to students from all over the world, including expatriates integrating into life in France. I then developed personalized French immersion programs with individual lessons tailored to help students improve their French and make rapid and meaningful progress. Whether it’s listening comprehension, speaking skills (with a strong focus on pronunciation), writing, or reading, my programs are designed to address your unique goals.
Your French immersion is not only about tailored lessons but also experiencing French culture in a truly authentic way. One of the highlights? Sharing delicious meals with Michel, my husband and favorite chef. His culinary creations will immerse you in the flavors of France, making your stay both memorable and delicious.
With me as your guide, you will also discover the charm of the historic city of Montpellier and its beautiful surroundings. From its cobblestone streets and iconic architecture to hidden gems off the beaten path, you will discover the best of the region.
All lessons and activities are adapted to your preferences, ensuring your immersion program is not only effective for learning French but also an unforgettable cultural experience.
My teaching approach
I am happy to teach French to the whole family: to you, your teenagers, and even your younger children. As the testimonials show, I have experience working with all types of learners.
I do not believe in imposing a one-size-fits-all programme. During my many years as a host family, I developed a strong understanding of common challenges and concerns learners face, which I now integrate into my teaching approach. This is why I chose to become a French teacher and offer personalised, individual courses.
Together, we will take the time to define your programme so that it is fully adapted to your needs and goals. My role is to guide and support you because you are the key to your own success. With the right support and approach, you will make rapid and lasting progress in French.
Do you want to express yourself confidently in spoken French?
Many learners watch French series and naturally pick up expressions along the way. The real challenge, however, is knowing which level of language is appropriate in different situations. French varies depending on the context, the relationship, and the setting. Choosing the right register is key to sounding natural, respectful, and confident.
I will help you develop polished and nuanced French that can be adapted to your personal style as well as to social and professional situations. Rather than focusing on slang or overly informal speech, we work on a form of French that is natural, relevant, and well received in everyday, real-life situations. Of course, I can explain informal or colloquial expressions when you encounter them, so that you understand when (or if!) to use them.
I believe that a touch of politeness and a slightly more formal approach is always a safe choice. For example, using “vous” where “tu” might be acceptable is never a problem, as people will simply invite you to switch. However, the opposite can sometimes feel inappropriate. Learning the nuances of both the language and the culture will help you navigate conversations with confidence.
That’s why I will guide you in understanding these differences and help you adopt the right words and expressions for each situation. I use role-playing exercises to place you in real-life scenarios and gently push you out of your comfort zone. You will learn to express yourself in a variety of contexts: daily life, social interactions, and professional situations.
If this method feels a bit intense, don’t worry. We also take time for more relaxed conversations, always adapted to your rhythm and goals, both during your immersion stay and in the learning methods you can continue using at home.
My French Immersion Program
Your immersion program includes 3 hours of French lessons per day from Monday to Friday. These lessons usually take place in the morning but can be in the afternoon depending on your daily activities. My immersive homestays are designed to match all your needs and wishes.
Whether you are interested in scenic landscapes, gastronomy, or sports, your programme will be fully personalised in terms of both activities and lessons, helping you progress while discovering the region.
For professionals, I will be able to help you communicate confidently in French for both your professional or personal situations, or preparation for your expatriation in France. Thanks to my former professional background in management and finance, I can help you boost your vocabulary, learn the workplace culture and feel at ease orally in a variety of professional situations.
Please note that the accommodation is suitable for a couple, a family, or two friends. One bedroom room is equipped with a queen size bed or 2 twin beds depending on the composition of your group.
A two-week immersion program is a great way to improve your French and discover Montpellier and the surrounding area. I am also happy to teach the whole family: to you, to your teenagers and even to your younger children! As the testimonials show, I have experience with all types of learners. If you wish, we can continue our lessons online after your stay.
This homestay experience is also ideal for expats who already live in France but need to practice their French a bit and meet French people.

Montpellier is an amazing city, known for its street art, its bohemian spirit, and as one of the most sporty cities in France. Outside of Montpellier, you will discover historic cities, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and incredible, scenic landscapes.
Be careful… you may not visit just once. As you discover the Montpellier region, you may fall in love with it !

Our house
Our house is located near the hectic city centrer of Montpellier : 10 mn by tram to the city centre of Montpellier (Place de la Comédie). Our house is located in a quiet area with a garden.
Your Accomodation :
You Private guest flat is located on the 1st floor within the house with a private entrance. It has been renovated and is nicely decorated. It is fully equipped with two bedrooms with a double bed, access to wifi, two armchairs to read, and a “bureau” and another bedroom.

Arrival :
I can pick you up from either train station in Montpellier (St Roch or Sud de France), as well as from the airport, upon your arrival Sunday afternoon. I can also drop you off the following Saturday morning.

I recently completed a 5-day French immersion with Anne-Elizabeth and it exceeded my expectations! It was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
From the moment she picked me up at the airport, we spoke only French. And even though I was SO nervous at first, after having spent so many years out of practice, she was patient and kind and corrected me all along the way. She really helped to build my confidence in the language.
Our morning lessons were centered around real conversation — sharing my story, discussing what I did during my free time. Through our conversations, she identified mistakes I was making and areas of improvement, and she corrected me in real time, and then built lessons around that. She’s a wonderful teacher.
What really stood out was her warmth and hospitality. Lunches with her and her husband were so enjoyable, and she also took me around to show me parts of town. One day we went hiking, which was one of my favorite memories of the week!
I arrived nervous, but I left with confidence and a much stronger grasp of the language. I’m very grateful for this experience and highly recommend it!!!

Michel- your fabulous food and great sense of humour were majour highlights of our stay although our divine lunches meant that we needed une sieste every afternoon.
Anne-Elisabeth- the kindness, patience and effort you put into our lessons was much appreciated. Thank you also for the excursions to Palavas and St Guilhem le Désert. While you drove, we snoozed in the car and I will treasure the chats we had when I was able to stay awake.

Ma troisième expérience d’immersion et la meilleure à ce jour. Anne-Elisabeth et Michel sont des hôtes fantastiques et avoir notre propre appartement privé était un luxe agréable. La situation proche de l’ancien village, de la rivière et de toutes les commodités (y compris le tramway) était un autre avantage inattendu. Anne-Elisabeth était l’enseignante parfaite pour ma femme et moi-même, et je suis reparti avec plus de confiance et d’ambition dans mon parcours d’apprentissage de la langue française.
