I’ve studied French for many, many years and this, by far, are the best audiobooks. My weakness has always been understanding when someone speaks. This takes much of the fear and apprehension away since Camille does such a good job teaching you how to improve your listening skills. The two speeds of the audio books and seeing the written word in both English and French have given me more confidence in responding to what I hear in conversation.

I have been living in Toulouse, France since September 2018. In June 2019, after studying for 6 months full-time at a highly regarded French Language School in Toulouse, I passed the DELF B2 French language proficiency exam. But I still struggled with my French pronunciation and whilst I could do all the basic tourist interactions: restaurants, shops, transport, hotels, camping, directions… easily I found French people struggled to understand me and I was still struggling to understand them. I needed help.

I came across Camille’s website and bought A Moi Paris Level 5, whilst I thought this level was perhaps too easy for me, having passed the exam, my confidence needed a big boost and I thought it might be good to cover old ground. Having used Level 5 and about to start Level 6 I highly recommend A Moi Paris audiobooks.

Camille’s explanation of the difference between the daily spoken use of Futur Proche versus Futur Simple is the best explanation I’ve come across and this one little thing immediately helped me understand a mistake I was making when talking to French people (this had not been explained to me in my exam preparation courses). But the books include much more than a simple audio guide with exercises, for example direct hyperlinks to French songs on Youtube, songs with their lyrics in French which specifically cover either a point of grammar or pronunciation which English speakers often find difficult. I use the books at the Street Level speed but when I miss ‘une liaison ou l’élison’ I slow the speed down to the Slower Level and repeat it just to make sure I have mastered the sound and the linking between the words.

After 3 weeks of using A Moi Paris my French friends tell me that my pronunciation has improved, they now understand 90% of what I’m saying and I speak so much more confidently now. I wish I had known about A Moi Paris before I spent thousands of euros on full-time lessons at a highly regarded french language school, I could have saved myself a lot of money and been a more confident speaker. French Language Schools intensive 4 week courses in Toulouse range in price from €560- €880.

Starting with A Moi Paris Level 3 and moving up to Level 5 has really helped my comprehension of spoken French. I have noticed that I am now able to listen to the normal spoken French and don’t need to listen to the slower version. Camille speaks beautifully and I do my best to imitate her lovely accent (not always so successfully).

Also the explanations of particular points of grammar are very clear and easy to understand. Any language has its own peculiarities and understanding them helps so much with getting to grips with how real people speak.

When I compare this method with the textbook that I’m using in a formal class situation it really jumps out at me how stilted the text book is. Congratulations to Camille and Olivier.

I’ve been using French Today since Level 1 and am now a third of the way through Level 6. I’ve stuck with French Today because it’s the best learning tools I’ve come across for learning conversational French, both listening and speaking. Level 6 is really great to grasp a lot of phrases, idiomatic and otherwise.

It also continues to introduce synonymous way in which to say things, and gets you accustomed to the proper usage of various tenses, especially the ‘tricky’ imparfait. Among the different ways you can set up the course, I really like using the mobile app; it’s very easy to use and set up and has great flexibility to navigate through the lessons. On top of all that, the lessons are fun to listen to. In Chapter 5, there’s a bit of dialog about a teacher that is laugh-out-loud funny. I was howling. The performance is Oscar worthy.

This is a wonderful learning tool. I started with Une Semaine à Paimpol and really enjoyed the teaching method and subsequently downloaded this book for more advances grammar. The story line is interesting and easy to follow. Usually I listen while I am in the car and despite listening to it several times, (with time gaps in between!) the story is still interesting, but more importantly the vocabulary and grammar points sink in. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is working at improving their french.

I had originally planned to start with 7 and 8, as I am fairly competent conversationally, but figured I could use a refresher for grammar, so I purchased 5 and 6. Wow! It is so helpful! So now I think I’m actually going to end up buying 3 and 4 as well. The explanations are so clear and thorough, while also providing details concisely. The storyline is fun and engaging, and it is clear how much effort has gone into connecting the content (vocabulary, tenses, grammatical syntax) with the lessons. I have done many different products for learning language over the years, and in my opinion, this is an extremely high quality, useful language learning program.

A wonderful product and highly recommended!

Love this audio book series! I thought I was pretty strong on French grammar (one of those students who memorized every rule from the textbooks and can conjugate almost every tense), but even I learned new things. What really is revolutionary about these books is Camille’s explanations of French conversation: WHEN to use these verb tenses or expressions, not just how to form them. I’ve been told before by native French speakers that “What you say is grammatically correct but the French don’t ever say it that way”. So reading and hearing these verb tenses used within conversational context is so useful for building up my experience with the language so I can better “feel” what verb tense should be used.
For “A moi” Level 5, I particularly enjoyed Chapters 5 and 13-15. All the stories are interesting and I always learn new vocabulary and expressions, but I’ve re-read and recited Chapter 13 multiple times because I enjoy it so much, and talking about hairstyles in all the different verb tenses is surprising tricky to do!

The latest app is easy to use and much faster. I downloaded and unzipped it in about 5 minutes. I enjoy the story because my grand-daughters are the same age as the characters and have similar conversations in English. It was very easy to change from ‘slow’ to ‘street’ French. I had a small glitch with the app. Olivier came to the rescue and advised me to delete it and re-install it. As I am ‘ancien’ and not tech savvy his advice was very welcome and everything now works perfectly. I adore Paimpol to which I used to sail.
For several years, I have stayed with Suzanne and Peter at Jugon les lacs, who are excellent hosts of French today though Suzanne works you very hard.

Having already bought and studied AMP Levels 3&4, I soon brought this as a bundle with AMP Level 5 (and most of Camille’s other audio books). I’ve found them fantastic – Camille explains grammar points really well, the study guides are brilliant, and the stories are fun and engaging and pack in a lot of vocabulary and grammar almost without you noticing. These are the best audio books for adults learning French that I’ve come across (in several years of trying different ones out) and I’d recommend extremely highly!!

I can’t say enough good about Camille’s programme. Over the years I used her audiobooks (recently purchased Level7), incl. verb fundamentals and drills, working with adjectives, etc., to teach myself French. And teach myself I did, so much so that I have been able to help my kids with their school work (especially pronunciation!). The audiobooks are fun. I had the first two level study guides printed and spiral-bound, so I could write notes and highlight things whilst listening and reading. My son was using Level 5-6-7 as a junior/senior in high school. After all these years of learning with her, Camille’s voice feels “like family” (LOL). Now I need to find a similar programme for teaching myself Italian, then I’ll be content for a while. Oh, and the app just makes usage super easy. Again, I love Camille’s way of teaching. Fun way of learning real, usable French. And her website is a cornucopia of all things one would want to know about the French, both the language and the people/customs/way of life. I can easily spend hours discovering. (It’s funny how my brain works: I feel connected to her because when she lived in Boston, we were practically neighbours. Haha, not really, just a neighbouring state. But still…)
