When I did the subjunctive in school very many years ago, we learnt just 4 phrases – Il faut que, etc.
Imagine my shock to find it had grown exponentially to cover all sorts of subtleties you could ever think up. My tutor is brilliant but I just couldn’t get it’s shape, let alone remember to use it.
But I do now. Camille’s explanations, especially in audio with the story have helped me hugely.
I just wish I’d found the series earlier. It just makes sense. Everything is covered clearly in a way that you can remember and I like having a
    story. A brilliant idea.
I’ve also bought the numbers drills, which do my head in, but work. They have to. I’m taking DALF C1 in two weeks.

Many thanks Camille for the audio. You’re right. You need to talk and listen to get a language and to you Olivier. Everything has worked faultlessly.
    Thank you.

I have been gradually absorbing French for about 80 years, it isn’t easy as it is a very fluid language whose rules change all the time. I started with classical Académie Française French usually written, progressed through some exchange holidays with a French boy who was killed at Dien Bien Phu, where I learnt to count easily, playing table tennis, and succeeded in saying « u » but failed miserably with rolling my « Rs ». I dropped French for some years and tried again with Linguaphone and had some group French lessons from a teacher with a leather skirt.
After retirement, I found Français Authentique. Very precise, excellent diction but boring after a while and rather irritating.
Too late I found Suzanne at Jugon les lacs one of your hosts at French Today. She was a strong, reliable teacher who made me really work. I had to talk French on a subject of my choice for an hour with only occasional corrections. I stayed with her for 5 or 6 years. It was a little Spartan but then I was there to work.
French Today is a breath of fresh air, your nursery rhymes are a delight and l am very happy with Repetition, Repetition, Repitition although as I will be 87 in a couple weeks not a lot is going in.

I am loving the Level 7/8 audio book and am delighted with how much I can understand – especially as I only rate my level as Intermediate. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

I actually bought the whole series L1-L8, though I’m not a novice to French. Before the purchase, I did extensive research and sampled different materials/platform, free and paid. Everyone’s learning style is different. I can only say French Today couldn’t fit mine better.

Camille is such a natural teacher. The pragmatic methodology employed in constructing the material and delivering it is THE way to approaching any language, in my opinion. The storyline is interesting and doesn’t feel artificial at all—that keeps the learning momentum progressive and highly efficient. Not to mention the handy mobile app well-tailored for the material. Thanks for the hard and great work, Camille and Olivier!

Besides the lessons, what I equally appreciate is the regular “tips” email from Camille—so true that French is a living language! What I like the most is that it’s all written in French.

I find these audiobooks and accompanying materials quite effective. First, you hear real French as it is used today. If you want to actually understand French people, this is the French you must learn. Second, the story is interesting and uses a lot of everyday, real life vocabulary, which is the practical vocabulary you will need if you plan to spend time in France or interact with ordinary people (not just waiters and hotel clerks). Third, Camille’s grammar explanations are very clear and she provides practical tips for using her grammar points in real language. I think her explanations are far more comprehensible than those in the French textbooks that I own. Fourth, her advice on using repetition so that the language becomes intuitive is good advice and backed by research. Finally, her method of improving prononciation based on mimicry is also good advice. I only discovered these audiobooks after having studied French for 2 years. I wish I had known about them when I first started because I would have learned French more efficiently. If you want to learn French use these audiobooks and follow Camille’s advice!

The entire À Moi Paris series and accompanying books are a treasure trove of material. The step-wise method of learning makes it easy for the student to start slowly and build. Since I purchased and used all 8 levels of À Moi Paris and all the Verb Drills and the Adjectives books, this review covers all of these. Camille has put a massive amount of work into this material and it is filled with the kind of French you actually will need to learn to speak. She includes a huge number of slang and even vulgar expressions (face it…that is how we all talk…and you need to know these in French) and she covers every verb tense, all those pesky French pronouns, positive and negative sentence structure, indirect speech, cause/consequence, hypothetical speech, and everything else you need to know. I used her series to take me from knowing very little French to just below a level B1 (the level one needs to demonstrate to become a French citizen). If you work with this material and apply yourself in every chapter, you can get to a B1/B2 (Intermediate) level too! It is a lot of work, true. But if you want to really learn French as it is spoken, À Moi Paris will help you do it! Bon courage!! Michael

Review of – À Moi Paris 8 – Five stars.
I am currently working my way through À Moi Paris 8 and thoroughly enjoying the experience. Camille has again managed to include a huge amount of very useful day-to-day vocabulary in the context of an entertaining story. The main grammatical focus in this volume is indirect speech, but along the way we learn how to talk about web site development, recipes, wine tasting, healthy eating, movies, business meetings, Yoga, and so much more. The combination of printed text, in both French and English, the audio dialogue, at two speeds, and Camille’s very clear and easy to understand explanations of difficult grammatical points makes this entire series of eight volumes the perfect learning tool for any student of French. Camille’s approach to teaching is a refreshing change from older, outdated methods and is tailor made for the student who wants to end up being able to speak real, everyday French with ease. I recommend the entire À Moi Paris series wholeheartedly; it is by far the best learning tool that I have ever found to improve my understanding and fluency in the French language.

I bought my first audiobook, À Moi Paris Level 2: Meet the Gang (which was originally the first novel and under a slightly different name), from French Today a little over 5 years ago and since then have been in sheer awe at how beautifully and wonderfully this series has evolved. At the time there were only 2 À Moi Paris novels – now there are 8 the little prelude one, which all perfectly cover the needs of every French student from beginner to advanced. I bought each new addition as it came out and now own the complete series. And you know what? I don’t regret a single purchase! They were all money well spent. The amount of content and work put into these novels is unparalleled compared to some of the other products I’ve purchased to learn French.
These audiobooks are filled with lively stories and characters that enthrall you and actually make you want to continue to learn French just to see what happens next, helpful study guides to learn grammar in an entertaining way and what seems to be an endless amount of useful expressions and words to really make your French pop and sound much more natural. Camille’s clear, melodic voice and the dialogs at different speeds are perfect for training the ears! What I also like is the clever way she used the novels to build off of one each other: the odd-numbered audiobooks (1, 3, 5 and 7) are used for learning new grammar concepts and then those concepts are put into real-life contexts for better understanding in the even-numbered audiobooks (2, 4, 6 and 8). Question and answer sections are also in the even-numbered ones to further train your listening comprehension and help you strengthen your skills to understand and answer questions.
À Moi Paris Level 8 is nothing short of brilliant! The final novel continues the captivating story of Mary’s life and we see how it all ends. I’m getting teary eyed since it’s the last installment, but as they say, “Good things must come to an end.” Story aside, this novel continues to help you train on the advanced concepts learned in the previous installment, as well as concepts learned in the beginner and intermediate novels. That’s why I love this series so much, every audiobook builds off of one other, unlike most French textbooks where you go through a beginner one and then struggle to find an intermediate one that builds off of that one. Finding a suitable advanced book is even more difficult to find since they all have their own type of assumptions on what you should know already. Back to À Moi Paris, the audio is excellent, the story is once again thrilling, the study guide lessons are helpful as usual and there are even more advanced topics to further develop your French fluency. I already love this one as I have with every À Moi Paris novel. French Today’s method has without a doubt made learning French a thousand times more fun and, most importantly, possible!
