Your French Immersion Homestay in the Beaujolais, France
Meet Your French Teacher and Host
Bonjour ! My name is Marion, I’m a native Frenchwoman in her early thirties.
Before I became a French immersion teacher, I worked for 3 years at the Alliance Française in Jersey (Channel Islands) and before that, the Alliance Française of Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania. I have a DAEFLE degree (diploma for teaching French as a second language).
Traveling is my passion: I’ve lived in Mexico, Portugal, Tanzania and Jersey, and therefore I’m fluent in English and Spanish.
I specialize in teaching French to adults of all levels and ages, focusing on oral skills as I think speaking and listening are the main objectives of most students. It is also important for me that you feel confident and that you take pleasure in the learning process.
The lessons will be tailored to your needs, often using games, fun activities, videos and radio/podcasts.
In my spare time, I do sports: I run in the countryside around my house and I play basketball with my village team. I also enjoy reading and gardening, hiking or any outside activities. And I love food and wine!
“Marion is super great to talk to about anything and she really cares about helping you learn what you want to learn.”
Welcome to My House in France’s Beaujolais Region
My house is located in the Beaujolais region, in a tinyl and peaceful village near Mâcon (on the Rhône valley, not far from Lyon).
It’s a typical Beaujolais stone house that I’ve completely gutted and renovated in 2019. It’s surrounded by a large garden and enjoys beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.
The house itself is very spacious. The main area is a large open floor with a big bay window overlooking the vineyards: the open kitchen, dining room and living room are in this area. I love to cook and often entertain my family and guests – a good way for my students to socialize and practice their French – so I really wanted this area to be the center of my home.
Since I just moved in, I’m still in the process of decorating. I’m growing a botanical wall – finger crossed that it takes!
I still have to plant the garden and I’m planning to have a large vegetable patch because I love cooking with fresh produce. In the meanwhile, I’m getting my fresh veggies and fruits at the local market!
My family house where I use to receive immersion students is 20 minutes away and has a large swimming pool so we can visit and enjoy a glass of wine by the pool if you’d like. My mother often visits me and is always happy to meet my students !
Your Flat in the Beaujolais
You’ll have your own flat in the first floor of my house which can accommodate up to 5 people : 2 bedrooms with a queen size bed and an extra bed can be added.
You can be very independent as the flat has a separate entrance and a parking space.
The flat is very charming with its high ceilings, exposed beams and large windows. The living room has a lounge area with the best views over the countryside of all my house and there is a well equipped kitchen and a dining area.
There is a lovely bathroom with a walk in shower and a separate toilet.
Learn French in France’s Beaujolais Wine Country
Living in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyard, I have a passion: natural wine and I’ll be delighted to share it with you if you’d like.
To get to my house, you’ll go through the most famous Beaujolais wine vineyards, Morgon, Fleurie, Chiroubles… Wine tastings can easily be arranged with different domains. Scenic routes, beautiful colors, charming villages, no doubt Beaujolais has a lot to offer!
Since my house is situated on the hills of Beaujolais the outdoors are a big part of its charms: beautiful views, but if you are so inclined, hikes, trails, cycling… the possibilities are numerous.
Near my house is the “Solutré” rock, a geological and historical jewel, and within an easy car ride, the beautiful cities of Lyon, Macon, Cluny, among many others…
You may also like to visit the “Hameau du Duboeuf” the first theme park for viticulture and wine.

Getting To My House
The nearest airport is in Lyon.
There are several train options: the TGV to Mâcon Loche (2h from Paris) or a regional train to Belleville-sur-Saône (35 minutes from Lyon center). I can come to pick you up on both these stations.
Because my house is located in a tiny village in the countryside, I recommend you rent a car if you’d like to travel around. You can easily do so in Lyon. If you don’t feel like driving in a big city, you can rent a car in Lyon St-Exupery Airport. It’s about one hour drive to my house on the highway.
There is Wifi connexion in the house and in the student’s suite.
I enjoy smoking a cigarette from time to time but only do so outside. Smoking is not allowed inside.
I love cooking, and will be happy to cook for you if you’d like. I can prepare traditional French food but I also like to take inspiration in exotic recipes that I’ve learnt during my travels. I’m happy to adapt my cooking to any specific diet, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc…
We love animals so you are welcome to come with a well-behaved, well groomed cat or dog.
A typical 1 week (7 days, 6 night) immersion includes but is not limited to:
- 15 hours intense studying with me – usually 1.5h twice a day over 5 days
- 2 organised excursions of your choice in the region (entry fees not included)
- Accommodation in your own flat on the garden level of my family house
- 2 meals a day: breakfast and lunch
- Preferred arrival on Sunday, departure on Saturday
The Price With These Options Is 1300 Euros for one person.
For one additional guest in half board, the price per week is:
- Euros 210 without lessons or excursions,
- Euros 700 with shared lessons and excursions.
You are welcome to come alone, or with your spouse, a friend, or your whole family!
Your suite can accommodate 4 to 5 people: 2 in the master bedroom and 2 on the sofa bed in the lounge, and extra bed could be added for a child.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in my house: I’ll gently encourage you to speak French and help you discover everything the Beaujolais has to offer.
“My husband and I spent the most wonderful week with Marion for our first experience of a French immersion program. It could not have been better with Marion’s kind support, encouragement, and relaxed and fun approach to learning French.”
