Learn French in France – Your Immersion Homestay Program in South Western France
Meet Your French Teacher And Host
Bonjour, my name is Pierre and I’m a graduated and experienced French native teacher. I’ve been teaching French for over 9 years, starting when I lived in the UK – so I speak English fluently as well.
I love history and architecture (I actually own a Masters degree in history). I also love the art, literature and the movies, so when you come for a French immersion with me, you’ll improve your French language for sure, but also will learn a lot about French culture.
We will start our day together with an nice breakfast, then I’ll give you your formal French lesson. When we’re done, I’ll prepare lunch which we’ll share with Mélanie and our children if they don’t have school. In the early afternoon I’ll take you around and we’ll chat in French. After a fun and busy day of immersion, you’ll be able to relax in your own flat located downstairs – or not: should you prefer to go out, there are restaurants in the nearby villages.
During our structured French lessons, I’ll focus on your needs and French goals. Through the other activities, during the meals, the outings, I’ll help you develop your spoken French: there’s such a big gap between the French you’ve studied at school and the French we speak everyday!
Mélanie, my girlfriend and I live with our 3 children: Matthéo (15 years old), Abigaelle (10 years old) and Anaïs (born in September 2019!), they will sometimes come with us when we go for an outing. On school vacation you may meet our family, our parents, our grown-up children and some friends!
“My daughter and I have no hesitation to recommend Pierre to other families of any French level. He is a wonderful host, talented chef and an excellent teacher! Merci Pierre!”

Your Own Private Floor in France
Our chalet is modern and very comfortable. We enjoy stunning views over the mountains, and it’s close to a nice village.
There are two floors: downstairs (with a separate entrance) is exclusively for our students, and our family lives upstairs.
Downstairs, you’ll enjoy your own private space with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with walk-in showers, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a private patio. The two bedrooms each have a queen-size bed, a TV with a DVD player and free access to Wifi.
Upstairs, There are 4 large bedrooms with their own private bathroom and a large living space with an open-plan kitchen where I’ll prepare and we’ll share breakfast and lunch. We often enjoy our meals on the lovely terrace facing the mountains: as we live not far from the Mediterranean sea, the weather is most of the time sunny and very nice, and the view from the terrace is just so relaxing!
In the living space we have a piano you’re welcome to use! There is also a sitting area with a large sofa and a TV. There is wifi throughout the house.
The chalet is surrounded by a marvellous garden with wildflowers, fruit trees, and a small wood of green oaks. Just behind the bottom of our garden, you can reach a soccer field and a petanque field – great places to socialise and practice your French with the locals!
The house is in the heart of nature but just at the edge of a typical French village. Quillan is the nearest town with shops, restaurants and cafés… is just 2 miles away. If you don’t rent a car I can take you there, or lend you my bike. People are very friendly and are always interested in meeting newcomers – it’s easy to strike up a conversation.
Learn French In The Aude – Southern Region In France
The Aude is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is still unspoilt, Southern rural France at its best. Untouched gorges, Canyons with splendid watering holes where you can go swimming mountains, forests, wild meadows… Since it’s not far from the Mediterranean the climate is mild year-round.
If you rent a car you can easily get to splendid villages and castles: Peyrepertuse (on the picture above), Puylaurens, Quéribus, Montségur, Cucugnan… postcard villages and castles, classified among the most beautiful villages in France!
30 miles away is the “castle city of Carcassonne” where the entire city is a medieval castle! You’ll love it.
If you are interested, there are also fantastic grottos to visit – although as I already said, we are mostly above ground enjoying all the activities nature has to offer: hiking, rock climbing, horseback or bike riding but also many water sports such as canoeing or kayaking.
You’re also welcome to just hang and relax, stay home on your terrace reading a good book en enjoying the view over the mountains… It’s your vacation: we’ll do whatever you fancy!
Practical Info About Your French Immersion Residential Course
Getting To Your House
I will gladly pick you up at the Limoux train station. I could possibly arrange for a pick-up at the Toulouse, Carcassonne or Perpignan airports for an additional fee.
Renting a car will be ideal so you can fully take advantage of the region: you can easily do so in Toulouse, Crcassonne, Perpignan or Limoux, and I’ll give you links.
There is wifi throughout the house.
I go to the nearby markets to buy in-season fresh produce, which I use to cook traditional French food. I like to cook savory pies with veggies from the garden, and also crêpes. I sometimes cook the local specialties like duck and foie-gras, when my students are open to it of course.
You are of course welcome to cook with me, and I will be happy to adapt my cuisine to particular diets. I can cook really healthy, mostly vegetarian food or we can indulge with yummy duck… Just let me know what you like.
My house is strictly non-smoking inside, and we don’t smoke. Smoking is tolerated outside in the garden.
I can welcome your pet as long as it is well-trained, quiet and won’t run away.
A typical 1 week (7 days, 6 night) immersion includes but is not limited to:
My program is as flexible as you want it to be. Prices vary depending on what exactly you would like your stay to be, but this example gives you an idea:
- 15 hours tuition – usually 3 hours in the morning over 5 days.
- As much (or as little) homework as you want: listening activities, preparation for conversation/discussion, structured reading…
- Accommodation on your own private floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room.
- 2 meals a day with me (breakfast and lunch) unless you prefer to take off on your own.
- 2 accompanied excursions or cultural activities – eg. a visit of some of the castles of the region, or a long hike in the countryside + picnic, a tour of a village + lunch in a simple restaurant – according to your interests.
- Preferred arrival date on Sunday, departure the next Saturday – but I’m flexible on the days.
The price with these options is 1400 Euros for one person.
For one additional guest, the price per week is:
- Euros 210 in half board, without lessons or excursions,
- Euros 700 in half board with shared lessons and excursions.
There are other options with more tuition / a longer excursion /no excursion… I am flexible, and can adapt to special requests.
“Thank you Pierre for all of your time, support and guidance. You’ve given me a renewed sense of confidence in my French, and you have genuinely helped deepen my love for this beautiful language.”
