Nathalie – Arlene review
Stayed in April 2019
I was very excited to find a French Immersion Homestay on French Today where I could practice my French in a natural, relaxed and enjoyable manner.
That is exactly what I experienced while staying with Nathalie. Nathalie is a warm and friendly individual who has the unique ability to make you feel welcomed and at ease staying in her home. A quick bond was developed with many moments of laughter, enjoyable conversation and fun filled activities.
For me, the best part of my experience was speaking with Nathalie entirely in French for a full week. Since I spent many hours with her each day, I had lots of opportunities to enhance my conversational skills. I could speak more naturally and had gained confidence in my abilities. Moreover, I got a true flavor for the French language with its various nuances and expressions. It was a remarkable experience and I loved every minute of it.
Nathalie made every effort to make my stay exciting and memorable. She sometimes invited family and friends to spend time with us. First, her daughter (Marie) and her boyfriend visited for a few days. It was fun getting to know them, as well as practicing my French with them. Marie and her boyfriend enjoyed cooking and made a delicious “Quiche aux Poireaux” for our lunch. The meal was wonderful and Marie kindly shared her recipe with me (bien sûr, en français).
Second, Nathalie planned a soirée with her friends. She made a wonderful meal and we enjoyed an evening together with lively conversation, camaraderie and good wine. C’était formidable!
To further enhance my experience, Natalie planned several excursions for me in the beautiful Loiret Region. We visited Le Chateau de Fontainebleau and Le Chateau de Chamerolle. Both were beautiful castles and were worthwhile visiting. We also spent a day at the medieval village Yèvres le Chatel. Luckily for us, there was an annual artisanal market and we got to enjoy many of the regions specialties. My favorite excursion was our visit to the historic city of Orleans. We got to see many of its beautiful sites, as well as spend some time wandering its cobblestone streets.
In conclusion, I spent a truly remarkable week with Natalie. I felt like I made a new friend, as well as a wonderful French companion. Furthermore, I am looking forward to spending more time with Natalie in the future.
