Geneviève – Arlene review
Stayed in April 2019
I was very fortunate to spend two weeks in Nice under Genevieve’s tutelage. Geneviève is a warm and friendly individual who immediately helps you feel welcomed in her wonderful home and city. She has a gift for easily developing a camaraderie with you and I felt very comfortable and “at home” with her.
During my visit, I opted to stay in Genevieve’s studio apartment. It was lovely, spacious and a modern living space. I also spent lots of time in Genevieve’s apartment, where we would enjoy delicious meals together, have lively conversations or study the French language in a more formalized manner. Genevieve is a terrific cook. She could quickly adapt to my specific dietary regime and made delicious and healthy meals.
In my opinion, Genevieve is a wonderful teacher. She was quickly able to determine my level in French, as well as gave me an individual test to highlight some points that needed further attention. Genevieve taught me techniques to enhance my listening comprehension of the news, radio and songs. These are skills that I appreciate learning and will continue to practice at home. She also fine-tuned some of my grammar points, which will help me become a more competent language speaker. At all times, Genevieve was reassuring and helped me feel confident in my speaking abilities. She even had a phone conversation with my French professor in Pennsylvania, which demonstrated her further commitment and dedication to my learning process.
It is apparent to see that Geneviève loves the city of Nice. With an undeniable enthusiasm, Geneviève shared this charming city with me. We went on several excursions in Nice. We walked along the Promenades des Anglais, enjoying the beautiful beaches and Mediterranean Sea. We visited La Vielle Ville and wondered among its cobblestone streets enjoying its many specialty boutiques and restaurants. While we were there, there was a flea market, so I had the opportunity to practice speaking French with the local merchants. In addition, Geneviève took me to a restaurant to taste the locally, popular dish called socca. On another occasion, she took me on a walking tour of the Carabacel section of Nice. This was a beautiful area with many interesting and wonderful sites to enjoy. Furthermore, Geneviève and I spent a day in Grasse. This was a whole day excursion, as we took a train to Grasse and visited several museums and bought perfume at the famous Fragonard Parfumerie.
In conclusion, my experience with Genevieve was remarkable and one that I will always treasure. I am looking forward to spending time with her in the future and know that I will learn many new tips to accelerate my French learning process. Thank you for providing me with an incredible immersion program!!!
