Le Gigot d'Agneau Pascal - Easter Roasted Leg of Lamb Recipe
Today, we'll take a look at a very traditional French recipe: l'agneau Pascal. In case you were wondering, let's be clear: "Agneau Pascal" does NOT mean "Some guy named Pascal's recipe for lamb!" but rather the lamb that is traditional for Easter (called "Pâques") holiday. You'll find several variations of this dish in countries around the mediterranean (my favourite being the lemon based Greek one, but I'm biased with my ancestry).
The good news is that as far as holiday meals are concerned, this is probably one of the simplest and fastest to make. The whole recipe requires just 5 ingredients and less than 15 minutes of preparation!

Crêpes (sort of French thin pancake) are a very common food in France and are not only easy to make but can be served any way you want. This allows the whole family to eat exactly the crêpes that they want…
La Chandeleur (on Feb 2nd), is a French tradition where most French households will eat crepes at dinner time. This tradition finds its origins in an old Roman ritual of harvest & fertility. The crêpe is round and golden, reminding us of the sun to come, whose warmth will make the harvest possible…
1 Million French Today podcast downloads!
As I was looking over some stats yesterday, I realized that we had passed the 1 Millionth download of our French Today podcasts on iTunes!
Most of these downloads are from our very popular Classic French Poetry podcast (itunes link). With more than 40 poems read (and some analysed in depth), French Today has now become the number 1 resource on the web for listening to French Poetry (ever Googled "Classic French Poems"?)... and I thought that was a cool thing to share :-)
Camille and I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of you that made this possible!
Le parler d'jeunes: the slang of the French Generation Y - Part 1
As in any language, French has a large and rich slang vocabulary that never stops from evolving.
You all have heard of " le Verlan" which consists of inverting syllables in a word (the word "Verlan" itself is an inversion of the word "l'envers" ('reverse'). This slang form is now very prevalent throughout the French language and some verlan words are even now found in French dictionaries.
Many of you have studied common French slang: "un bouquin" for 'a book', "un mec" for 'a guy'... All these are still used, but lately, a new form of slang emerged: "le parler d'jeunes".
